Code of conduct

Support group meeting Code of Conduct

To ensure that each support group is a safe space, we ask that members read and adhere to the following rules:

- Support groups are confidential spaces, do not share personal information divulged in a meeting.

- Be courteous, listen and show respect to each other and the group facilitator.

- The group facilitator may at times guide the conversations to keep the meeting generally focused on bipolar disorder and away from inappropriate topics.

- Allow everyone to have their say.

- Respect opinions that are different to yours.

- Refrain from using abusive, offensive and inappropriate language.

- Threatening physical behaviour will not be tolerated.

- Exploitation of group members whether it be: sexually, physically, emotionally, financially or in any other way that is deemed inappropriate will not be condoned.

By entering our meeting, you are agreeing to our policies and procedures and will agree to adhere to them.

Anyone who infringes the rules of the group will be asked to leave.

The views expressed within the group don’t necessarily represent the views of Bipolar Life Victoria.

Bipolar Life adheres to the Victorian government guidelines and mandates regarding Covid-19.

If at any point Victoria has to go into a lockdown we switch to Zoom meetings.

Never forget a support group again. Sign up to our SMS reminders and we'll send you a reminder the morning of the meeting. You can sign up for multiple meetings and if you ever want to unsubscribe, there will be a link in the message.

It's a good idea to sign up for these alerts even if you don't usually forget, that way if a meeting gets cancelled at the last minute or we go into a sudden lockdown, you will be informed.

MHFA Bipolar Carer’s support group

MHFA Bipolar Carer’s support group

The Bipolar Carer’s Support Group is run in conjunction with the Mental Health Foundation Australia and meetings are held at the MHFA headquarters at 10 Yarra St, South Yarra 3141.

The group meets twice a month. This meeting is delivered face-to-face and also via Zoom.

  • Session 1 meets every first Thursday of the month at MHFA South Yarra, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
  • Session 2 meets every third Thursday of the month meets online on Zoom, 7:00pm – 8:30pm.

The Bipolar Carers Support Group is for family, friends, partners and carers of a loved one with a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder. This group will provide the opportunity to learn strategies for family and carers to maintain their own mental health and wellbeing, learn more about Bipolar Disorder, learn strategies on how to better support their loved one, hear from guest speakers on relevant topics, be provided with carer community supports and carer resources, helplines as well as peer support. This will be conducted in a safe and confidential space while respecting other carers.

It is free, however registration is required. You will be made most welcome.
